Retreat Overview

From May 29–31, 2026, the SRF Encinitas Temple ministers will conduct a spiritual retreat based on the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda. The retreat will be held at The Oaks Retreat Center, a 240-acre property in Ramona, California.

The Oaks offers beautiful indoor and outdoor gathering spaces, serene surroundings, views of the San Diego foothills, and access to hiking trails.

The retreat program will focus on applying Self-Realization Fellowship teachings to spiritual growth in daily life, with particular emphasis on deepening one’s meditation practices. The program will include group meditations and kirtans, inspirational talks by SRF monastics, and extended periods of silence for spiritual study, introspection, and reflection.

Registrations

  • The retreat is open for SRF Lessons students aged 18 or older.

  • Reservations and payments can be made online through this website. Please navigate to the Book your Retreat page for more information.

Silent Retreat

  • Silence is an important part of the retreat program.

  • Silence begins Friday night and ends on Sunday.

  • To get the most out of the retreat, it is recommended smartphones be used solely for reading SRF lessons and books. Smartphones should be turned off during retreat activities and meals.

  • Recording of SRF classes is not permitted during the Retreat.

Lodging/Meals

  • There are approximately 100 guest capacity in a variety of room types from shared rooms/bathrooms to private rooms/bathrooms.

  • Vegetarian meals are provided. All meals are already included in the pricing.

Schedule

  • The check-in starts on Friday, May 29 at 3:00 pm.

  • Check-out is on Sunday, May 31 are as follows:

    • Checkout from the rooms: 9:00 am

    • Checkout off the property: 1:00 pm

  • The detailed retreat program will be posted on the retreat website closer to the retreat date. It can be viewed in the “Retreat Schedule” page of the website.

  • There will be group meditations, inspirational talks, kirtans and time for spiritual study and introspection.

Lodging Options

PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW CAREFULLY BEFORE MAKING A BOOKING.

Steps for completing your booking:

  1. Each guest must make a separate booking, except for lodgings designated as a “Private Room”. Private Room accommodations may accommodate up to two guests and require only one booking for both occupants. The total price of the Private Rooms are shown in the lodging descriptions. Lodging, meals and all retreat activities are included in the total price.

  2. Choose the lodging category you prefer.

  3. Scroll down to select the lodging type that best fits your needs.

  4. Click on the photo of any option to view detailed descriptions and additional images.

  5. When you’ve made your choice, select “Reserve Your Spot” to add the lodging type to your cart.

  6. Proceed to Checkout to complete your payment.

  7. If you require wheelchair accessible lodging, you may choose a lodging type in the Kendall or Downstairs Ballena Buildings. The lodging descriptions indicate if it is a wheelchair accessible option. Shared spaces that will be used during the retreat such as conference room, dining room and living room are wheelchair accessible. Please contact us for further information.

Cancellation Policy

Please review the following cancellation terms prior to completing your registration:

  1. Cancellations made on or Before March 8, 2026
    Reservations cancelled on or before March 8, 2026 are eligible for a 100% refund of the total retreat cost. Any service or processing fees charged by the selected payment method are non-refundable.

  2. Cancellations made between March 8, 2026 - April 8, 2026 are eligible for a 50% refund of the total retreat cost. Any service or processing fees charged by the selected payment method are non-refundable.

  3. Cancellations After April 8, 2026
    Cancellations made after April 8, 2026 are not eligible for a refund. A refund will be provided if another guest is found for the cancelled booking.
